Abstract:
This paper describes the origins of the term "mobbing" and its definition as equivalent to moral harassment. The groups or individuals who employ the mobbing and the ones who are victims of it, are identified. The document clarifies that mobbing is applied in long periods of time (years or decades) and the justification of why this technique is used by the stalker. This phenomenon may be common in institutions of education, from basic to University, and it specifies who directed the mobbing in these scenarios, showing that it is common its application to teachers with outstanding qualities. The different phases of mobbing are described: a phase of previous moral harassment seduction; and four where the mobbing is practically applied. They are presented as if were a staggered war whose end is to emotionally destroy the harassed. The first stage occurs when the stalker prevents communication, in other words, "disinformation to the enemy". In the second phase, the abuser wants to prove its "superiority", in addition to "invade enemy territory". During the third stage, the offender blocks the victim, i.e. "encircle the enemy". The fourth phase is given with the exacerbation of psychological violence; it is the final stage or "elimination of the enemy". Unfortunately, often the victim is unaware of what happens until it has gone through the process of the four stages. When he or she realises, it is because he or she has already decided to quit his or her job or his or her physical and mental health has diminished too much. The conclusions set out the implications of the application of mobbing and proposals of how to avoid these harmful practices. In general, it is concluded that the abolition of the practice of mobbing is a great opportunity to improve the working environment and comply with the permanent strategy of quality education.
