Abstract:
The majority of the current conceptions of "successful ageing" focuses on maintaining adequate activity of old people. In the old age, the negative impact of inactivity, motivational and emotional deprivation are more evident, and they lead to faster involution changes. Inactivity is pathogenic physically, as well as psychically and socially. However, the effort of activating older people has to fully respect individual possibilities, needs and requirements of every senior. It is crucial to support the motivation of older people to create short-term and long-term aims; to provide them with opportunities to experience success and also to strengthen their self-esteem. For this reason, we think that educational programmes should fully meet seniors' requirements, interests, needs, aims, aspirations and expectations. At the same time, their structure should be following the main principles of education for seniors. They should also respect the specific features of older people and fulfil their specific educational needs. Nowadays, education for seniors reasonably increases its significance not only for proper seniors but also for the whole society. The society should naturally integrate older population in its structure, and seniors should not stay without an active role in it. It is a programme of permanent self-fulfilment of older people who have a full right to develop their personalities, as well as have a dignified position in society. The article aims to describe the possibilities of education for seniors applying the Montessori approach and The Feuerstein instrumental enrichment.
