Abstract:
The modern learning environment calls for student-teacher cooperation. This dynamic model succeeds the better the teacher can facilitate the learners´ goal-setting. Also, it suggests tha the learners´ personalities and learning styles are taken into account, group dynamics is well developed and the motivational factors considered. As a part thereof, and ensuing from the above. a positive learning atmosphere is a well-known predictor of success.

"Happy students make happy learners" - is a well known truism. But in order for us to better know what the positive atmosphere creation involves, let us take a closer look at ´emotions´ as a socio-psychological phenomenon explained through memory related, motivation and learning aspects.

The presentation aims at identifying some of the later research results on emotion research and finding out if some of these their implications can be relevant and used in shaping our teaching.
