Abstract:
The purpose of the report is to present the main activities of leading institutions – library and archive – and the opportunities they provide for the use of electronic resources which they offer during the crisis. The emphasis in the paper is placed on the practices of the State Agency for the Archives and the National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” regarding the access to information in a situation of emergency with specific examples from both institutions. The significance of the considered issues is related to the expanding functions of the institutions and their increasingly active presence in the information society.

The results of the research are presented by the authors who themselves are professional users of archival and library information. The report also focuses on the use of various educational resources offered by cultural institutions in distance learning during an atypical pandemic situation. Attention is paid to the learning platforms offered by the various libraries, archives and museums. The ways of use of those platforms in teaching of the respective disciplines are considered. The positives and negatives of the remote access to the institutions are analyzed and whether their conditional interchangeability with virtual access is complete.
