Abstract:
This research presents students’ perception of challenges in teamwork. The research encapsulates students who actively participated in teamwork as part of international business degree program. This study follows a quantitative research methodology. Based on the literature review, a webropol survey was carefully developed for this exploratory research. The data was anonymously gathered during the delivery of the course as part of international business degree program. A total of 185 students responded to the survey by answering all the questions. Authors carefully reviewed the completed survey before analyzing the collected data. The IBM SPSS software is used for data analysis. The analysis includes profiling the respondents in terms of variables including age, gender, nationality and participation is teamwork. The perception of students of challenges in teamwork is explored using five variables. The result of the analysis show that ‘over expectation’ from team members is the biggest challenge that students faced. According to the results ‘changing plans’ and ‘high workload’ are the second most common challenges affecting teamwork. Further, respondents selected ‘personality clash’ and ‘uncertain goals’ as the challenges that least effect student teamwork. Our results provide insights related to the challenges in student teamwork at higher education institute. The study contribute in providing insights into undergraduate student learning experience.
