Abstract:
The aim of this study is to explore student team structure and teamwork in the European Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) context. Research shows that students who participate in teams share common goals. The present study avails 1st semester international business students belonging to bachelor of business administration degree programme in a Finnish HEI. This study attempts to provide insights related to the fundamentals of student teamwork as well as factors that influence student team structure. The data for this exploratory research is gathered using a webropol survey during the implementation of the course. Students were informed about their voluntary participation and intent of the data collection. All questions in the created survey were compulsory. Following a quantitative research methodology, first, student sample profiling is developed using four variables. Using the IBM SPSS tool for the data analysis, the students’ perception of fundamentals of teamwork is explored using five variables, further factors affecting team structure is examined using three variables. Our analysis provides insights pertaining to student teamwork and student team structure as part of their learning practice. The results of the study contribute in providing insights into the phenomenon of student teamwork in business education in the HEIs.
