Abstract:
The changes in the university learning environment required by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) are leading professors to invest time into developing new methodologies to help students acquire the abilities that they require in order to become successful professionals. Within these new methodologies, the use of Learning and Knowledge Technologies (LKT) can help with the task assigned to the university professors.

We propose a comprehensive new methodology, for toxicology students that includes the use of LKT as the digital blackboard and a Classroom Response System (CRS) and methodologies in which the “flipped class” and the competitive/cooperative learning are included.

This comprehensive methodology may help toxicology students gain access to the abilities that they will require when joining their professional environment and that will help them whenever they need to adapt to the constant changes and evolution that the working environment suffers today.

With our methodology, toxicology students learn at their own pace, work in groups to construct their own knowledge and compete with one another in question-based games, they also take their theoretical knowledge into action within a virtual environment that allows them learning to put theory into practice, before joining the professional environment. This methodology enhances student’s learning process and maximizes their potential and learning results.
