Abstract:
The training, understood like “the systematic preparation with seen to improve the faculties that have the individuals to exert functions of commercial and social interest, by what covers all the group that form the education, the professional training and the qualification” (OIT, 2003 )facilitates the access to the labour market.
The different approaches to explaining the election process reveal the existence of several variables that influence the election process, among which personal variables, psychological, academic, and socio-economic context. Among the psychological variables that influence the choice of different authors note the motivation defined as "a set of intermediate variables that trigger the behavior and oriented in a particular way to achieve a goal" (Isus, 1995:100).
Studies that have addressed the study of the reasons for vocational choice (Monreal, 2002, Gonzalez, 2003; Nunez, 2009), show the existence of distinct motivations among different training cycles. In line with these studies, in our work we try to meet the academic and professional motivations of students currently enrolled in higher level vocational training in Galicia. For the collection of information was used and validated structured questionnaire entitled "Questionnaire on Motivation and Academic Expectations and Labour", selecting the questions in this paper directly address the issue of academic and professional motivations. The data obtained show that the prevailing academic reasons are three career choice: like the cycle (relevant motive in eight of the twelve cycles analyzed), the fact that this cycle who attend many career and consider they have skills to pursue such studies. In contrast to the relative uniformity of academic reasons our shows in professional motivations notes a lack of agreement among students belonging to different cycles analyzed.
