Abstract:
In 2012 a recommendation for recognition of nonformal learning was sent out by the EU to member states with the objective that by 2018 recognition systems will be set up in place. Member states have different systems to recognise either the prior learning, or the nonformal learning. The complexity and relevance of such systems is to be found out when country progress reports will be published. On the other hand, volunteering - as a social act and context for learning, be it on a personal level or professional one - has had a more visible path and is now one of the most present themes in the public discourse on recognition of competences. There are different practices on national level to support recognition of volunteering, on one side and bridge the recognition of volunteering with work and employment. In Romania, an instrument called VoluntPass Supplement creates the missing link between volunteering and employment. The paper will present a study case of Romania recognition process of volunteering in the support of youth transition to work life and employment.
