Abstract:
Higher education is facing the transition from the type of pedagogical education through which students are guided in terms of the learning process to the andragogy type of learning model.
This paper aims to present, on one hand, aspects on how to increase the quality of learning in universities and, on the other hand, the importance of the three specific principles of adult learning. The applicability of andragogical education in the university in the domain of geodesy is for the groups of students from years 3 and 4 when it comes to a wealth of knowledge. Acceptance by students of the principles of relevance, relationship, and responsibility, represents the prerequisite of new research stages which can be developed in master and doctoral programs.
We consider that through this paper we highlight the need for continuous transformation of the education process in universities by adapting to the newest trends of the research area.
The quality of a learning process is ensured by Leadership - clear vision for the future, setting goals, sustaining values, creating ethical and trustworthy models, training for responsibility, encouraging valuable contributions and recognizing them. Another component is human resources’ involvement - the use of their talent and ability, motivation, innovation, creativity, teachers, and students’ responsibility for continuous renewal.
The new strategies for restructuring the higher education system involve continuous improvement of the curriculum and educational programmes, in line with the evolution of technology and continually referring to similar institutions in the country (regional development) and in the European Union. Keywords:
