Abstract:
The authors consider distinctive features and possibilities of using information technologies in the implementation of language learning in non-language universities in Russia, especially in the context of preventing the spread of new coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation, using the example of foreign language teaching in the Federal State Educational Institution of Higher Education "Moscow State Institute of International Relations University) of the MFA of the Russian Federation" and the Plekhanov Russian Economics University (Moscow) in 2019-2020 at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The practice of using the following information technologies, including within the framework of distance learning implementation, is analyzed: educational platforms (Google class, Moodle, Eduardo, onlinetestpad), which allow organizing off-line classes; conducting classes in real time through on-line conferences (Zoom, Microsoft Teams); educational websites and applications, as well as websites (with redundant applications) for creating tests that allow teachers to prepare for classes in pairs, and students to improve their language proficiency independently. The experience of Plekhanov Russian Economic University is presented, where the staff of the Foreign Language Department №1 conducts a number of courses ( 1. conducts authoring courses on certain platforms - 2. conducts a number of created authoring courses on certain platforms) on its platforms on a permanent basis using pedagogical and information technologies. The specifics of project method application through the mentioned technologies are briefly discussed and examples from MGIMO educational practice are given, e.g. "Reading Conference", teleconference, reports and other on-line video projects, which undoubtedly contribute to the development of students' learning motivation. It is indisputable that the use of information technologies meets the requirements of the higher education standard and is aimed at achieving the stated learning outcomes of the "Foreign Language" discipline. Keywords:
