Abstract:
The pandemic forced the improvisation of online learning strategies at all levels and although non-synchronous learning platforms and strategies were used more, technology prevented the school year from being lost. The COVID-19 pandemic brought with it several effects on education, the most obvious being the increase in students in online courses and the increase in use of technology. In this study, we present the profile of students who study online to obtain their High School diploma at the Online Learning Institute (INSTAL), which for over 10 years, has offered the program “Your High School in 4 months". More than 8,000 student responses are analyzed in an initial survey, from 2015 to 2021, to determine trends with a linear regression in expected data and real data, and significant or non-significant differences are established in each value obtained. Among the most significant results was the increase in students who come from private Secondary Schools as well as those who had already taken previous online courses. The profile of the real student during the pandemic indicates that they spent more time on their courses, connected more from their homes and less from their offices, spent more time connected to the Internet, and greater use on social networks was perceived.
