Abstract:
In recent years, research has been made about the duration and effectiveness of the videos used in education. It is true that the videos, by themselves, do not guarantee learning, and research suggests that they accompany activities that reinforce and socialize knowledge. So that they can be effective, the videos should not be very long since people tend to stop seeing them in the first minutes. The smaller and most delimited are the videos, they will be seen by more people.
In this work we analyze the use of educational videos published on YouTube, that were used in an online course. We compare the duration of the videos with the reproductions and devices used and their effect on the performance of the students.
The most viewed videos are the shortest and the least viewed videos are the longest, regardless of the order in which they are presented. The computer is the most used device in an online course to view YouTube videos, however, students use their cell phone a lot to see the first videos of the course. Viewing the videos on YouTube does influence the students to finish their activities in the Induction course. Keywords:
