Abstract:
In the framework of the R & D + I, funded by the Research Directorate of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, "The academic plagiarism among students in Secondary Education of the Balearic Islands" (EDU2009-14019-C02-01 ) and in order to locate the existence of aspects related to academic dishonesty, during the months of March to October 2011 the research group based at Balearic Islands University "Education and Citizenship" has conducted a review of two of the internal documents of a sample of highschools: the Internal Regulations (IRR) and the Organization and Functioning regulations (ROF). This work, based on content analysis methodology, was carried out with qualitative analysis software and has been analyzed with NVivo9. The main results suggests that: the lack of action (and therefore awareness) in relation to the general academic dishonesty and plagiarism in particular at an institutional school level. Therefore, from the results, we suggest a series of policy proposals that are structured from a central axis: the awareness of the educational community by including, in internal documents of the centers, providing a clear on plagiarism and other forms of academic dishonesty without incurring in punitive measures but rather training, in order to promote the avoidance of plagiarism among students of secondary school.
