Abstract:
Interest and understanding of scientific concepts by high school students usually depends on the complexity of the concepts and ideas discussed. One of the ways to solve may be the use of analogies or examples and comparisons as best able to capture the interest of the student. In other cases it is the approach of those concepts to their next sociocultural environment which allowing to improve initial behaviors. That's what you are looking through treatment Science Technology Society (STS) in the classroom [1].

The teacher's role should focus not only on the explanation of the contents, but to establish a context within which to make sense. And so the students discover the technical applications and their environmental implications.

A proposal for classroom work, based on a STS approach to developing content related to the electromagnetic spectrum is presented in this communication. It will analyze what the electromagnetic spectrum is, how it interacts with matter and which applications are most interesting and close to the student. The methodology presented to develop this proposal, focuses on alternating lectures with the presentation and implementation of simple practical activities, based on a complete review of the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio frequency (transistors, nuclear magnetic resonance, television) to X-rays (nuclear chemistry)[2].
