Abstract:

Nowadays, due to the imminent implementation of Industry 5.0, more and more people are afraid of technological exclusion on the labor market. The main aim of the paper is to show that young graduates of technical universities are less affected by this fear than the rest of the population. To begin with, a review is made of the main aspects revealed by the specialized literature on the potential changes generated by Industry 5.0 in the economy in general and in human resource management in particular. Then the results of a study conducted on graduates of a Romanian engineering faculty are presented. Among the main aspects analyzed – in the opinion of the graduates – regarding the mutations generated by Industry 5.0 in human resource management, we mention: reducing human labor effort by involving collaborative robots (cobots), the employee creativity, their career advancement opportunities, or, on the other hand, the risk of their dismissal, and the potential concern of managers to provide each employee with a personalized cobot. Regarding the change in the results of the companies in which they work by moving to Industry 5.0, the engineering graduates were asked for their opinion on the following results recorded by the organization: the productivity and efficiency of the company, the financial indicators, employee satisfaction, care for environmental protection and company's image on the market. We also analyzed the opinion of the graduates related to the employability of human resource in the context of Industry 5.0. Comparing the results with previous studies conducted by us in the last year, we believe that the graduates of the technical faculties are more open to the changes generated by Industry 5.0 than the rest of the active population.
