Abstract:
A first aim of the paper is to detect the main problems of local collaboration between academia and industry in Romania, which prevents both the optimal training of students in technical faculties and the implementation of their professional ideas for the benefit of the community. Therefore, we started from the results of a research carried out during the first state of emergency decreed in Romania as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. This research aimed at detecting the deficiencies in the practical training programs in industry of the students from the Faculty of Engineering of the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu. Based on it, we conducted a new study in which students from different specializations at the Faculty of Engineering were interviewed, a study that aimed to achieve the second objective of the paper: finding solutions that bring together representatives of academia, those of business environment, and representatives of the local community, for a sustainable development of the Sibiu area.
