STUDENTS' SATISFACTION TOWARDS A DUAL SPECIALIZATION STUDY PROGRAM

Rapid evolution of modern technologies, social and cultural changes, and people's awareness of the need to protect the natural environment are just some of the elements that have led to the emergence of jobs for interdisciplinary specialists. From here until the introduction of dual specialization programs in universities, was only one step. Economical engineering in mechanical field is such a dual specialization in Romania, even if its graduates receive only the engineering degree, not the economics degree too. The paper presents the most relevant results of a survey developed among the students of economical engineering in mechanical field at the Faculty of Engineering in Sibiu, Romania. The aim of this research was to identify the students' opinion about the current study program and about the utility of dual training in both the technical and economic sciences. We wanted also to find out through this study their suggestions for increasing the efficiency of the educational process, for adapting the educational path to the labor market and for improving the individual performance of the future engineer. The information obtained can be considered as a starting point for the development of the specialization under examination, but it can also be useful for other faculties that offer the opportunity of a dual specialization for students.
