Abstract:
Some authors who have analysed the influence of education on entrepreneurial behaviour have found that specific training on entrepreneurship increases the entrepreneurial behaviour of those willing to start a business. Other authors argue that entrepreneurial behaviour, in addition to being intentional and voluntary, can be motivated and encouraged with the intention of creating a new business or becoming an entrepreneur, being a precursor to entrepreneurial behaviour.

The updated model of the Theory of Planned Behaviour (Ajzen, 1991; Hayton and Cholakova, 2012) is used to analyse the relationship between subjective norms, emotional competencies, entrepreneurial attitudes and self-efficacy and the strength of entrepreneurial intention of MBA students, predictors of entrepreneurial behaviour (Karimi et al., 2014).

This paper analyses the relationship between competencies and emotional skills, cognitive factors (subjective norms, entrepreneurial attitude and entrepreneurial self-efficacy), and the entrepreneurial intention of people involved in entrepreneurial processes. A questionnaire has been developed based on the work of Mueller (2011) and Fernández-Pérez et al. (2019). The instrument assesses entrepreneurial intention, entrepreneurial attitudes, subjective norms and emotional competencies. The questionnaire was answered by 130 MBA students at the Rafael Landívar University (Guatemala).

The results suggest that MBA students with specific training in entrepreneurship who perceive a positive influence of subjective norms perceive themselves as capable of entrepreneurship and have a positive entrepreneurial attitude. Likewise, students with higher emotional competencies have a more positive entrepreneurial attitude and perceive themselves as capable of entrepreneurship. A positive influence of entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy on the entrepreneurial intention of MBA students is also observed.
