Abstract:
This study develops a theoretical model that allows to assess the relationship between E-learning student’ satisfaction Academic Quality, Academic Engagement in a period of confinement due to COVID19.

Student satisfaction is affected by some factors that can influence the experience of students and teachers. Factors such as technological knowledge, conditions at the level of personal context, and resistance to change are pointed out in the literature as influencing satisfaction.

In this study, we applied an online questionnaire to ISCAP accounting students. The structural equation model was used to evaluate the statistical relationships of the theoretical model.

Based on 260 observations, the results indicate that although there is a preference for face-to-face modality, accounting students revealed satisfaction with distance learning in confinement due to COVID19. The results also reveal that the perception of academic quality positively impacts students' academic engagement in accounting classes, influencing E-learning student satisfaction with the teaching modality. In addition, empirical evidence shows that academic quality does not directly influence satisfaction, but it has a positive impact via academic engagement. The variables of the model determine 69% of student satisfaction with distance learning.

This study applies to accounting students enrolled in the courses of financial accounting, advanced financial accounting and sectoral accounting, which does not allow generalising the results to the remaining accounting students.

In a context where distance learning has become compulsory, this study shows that it is not enough to have academic quality for student satisfaction; it is, therefore, essential to determine the incentives for students’ engagement in distance learning. Additionally, this study will provide information for teachers to include new ways of teaching to improve interaction with students in a distance learning context.
