Abstract:
The use of active methodologies in university teaching is increasingly on the rise compared to traditional teaching since they make the student the protagonist of the learning process integrating the development and acquisition of competences. Specifically, gamification is a methodology in which learning is achieved by transferring the mechanics of games to the educational field with a specific objective, although its use for more technical subjects isn’t so deeply rooted.

This work presents both the initiative and its results and the opinion of the students involved in it, which consisted of the use of the Kahoot! as an evaluation tool to verify if the theoretical concepts have been consolidated and also increase the motivation of the students in the practices of the subject Theory and Design of Machines.

The result of the implementation of this initiative has been positive on the part of the teachers for several aspects: the first of them has been to get the attention of the students during the explanation of the theoretical concepts due to the motivation and competitiveness that this type of activity generates when there is a reward and the second has been due to the positive evaluation of the students, which makes it possible to extend this initiative in more sessions or subjects.
