Abstract:
Businesses are more increasingly digitalizing their operations, requiring employees who are tech-savvy and who can embrace a more collaborative and innovative way of working.

Digital Dexterity (DD) is a learned ability that leads to fluency in collaboration, adaptability, analytical thinking, and creativity and is a critical component of digital societies. It is essential to succeed in education, to create future-proof workplaces, and to promote the digital transformation of business. In organizations, DD is essential to build an agile and flexible workforce that possesses valuable digital skills.

In the ever-changing global setting, the gap between the skills and competencies developed by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the know-how required by employers is evident. Employment-ready talent has become scarce and highly valued. Digital workers can understand and adapt themselves to the accelerated technological advancement and contribute to growing businesses, better decision-making processes, and enhanced results.

The use of technologies is not only a mechanism to achieve management or institutional goals on a day to day basis, but it is also what will determine the efficiency of the individuals, which translates directly to the organizational capability to generate the best possible outcomes in terms of productivity and innovation.

This paper aims to assess the importance of DD in the postmodern workplace and how it can be learned in educational settings. The ability of employees to take advantage of technologies is crucial from the business perspective, which is why universities should focus a significant part of their efforts to provide knowledge and practical skills that give their students an insight into the growing digital world.

The most relevant issues that emerge from the irruption of digital technologies into all areas of work include determining the skills and competencies that younger generations need to acquire; how can these be developed and what is the role of HEIs.
