Abstract:
Increased mobility of students, both physical and virtual, has necessitated a review of internationalization policies in higher education. Universities are concerned about the overall experience of students abroad, specifically the acquisition of knowledge that provides better work opportunities around the world.
Studying abroad provides students with an immersion in a different culture and sometimes language, an experience that can prove to be difficult when the elected courses do not have an international perspective or when course contents and examples refer to context specific-situations with which foreign students might not familiar, creating misunderstandings and sometimes anxiety.
Studies across the world analyzing international students’ integration as foreign students and their success during their studies have shown that the significance of course contents is of important.
This study analyzes the impact of multicultural course contents at the business school in a private university in the state of Puebla Mexico, in an attempt to develop global competence in local students while promoting better understanding of courses for international students. Keywords:
Significant contents, higher education, international students, multicultural education.
