Abstract:
Purpose: The aim for Entrepreneurship education is to step up progress in promoting entrepreneurial mindsets in society, systematically and with effective actions, to support the Middle East & Mediterranean Region in developing a more systematic strategy for entrepreneurship education.
Design: Universities and Technical institutes should integrate entrepreneurship as an important part of the curriculum, spread across different subjects, and require or encourage students to take entrepreneurship courses. The challenge lies in spreading further the existing positive examples. Learning about entrepreneurship in the national curricula is an important step, but will not be sufficient by itself. Measures of incentive and support are needed, as schools, universities and teachers have a large degree of autonomy. The provision of specific training to teachers is very important.
Findings: Combining entrepreneurial mindsets and competence with excellence in scientific and technical studies should enable students and researchers to better commercialize their ideas and new technologies developed. Developing generic attributes and skills that are the foundations of entrepreneurship is complemented by imparting more specific knowledge about business according to the level of education. Aspects of entrenching development programs and strengthening entrepreneurship to produce more graduates who truly wanted to go into business.
Value: Set up entrepreneur centre at each institution of higher education which will play a role to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate programs as well as activities related to entrepreneurial education. Aspects of entrenching development programs and strengthening entrepreneurship to produce more graduates who truly wanted to go into business.
