Abstract:
Internationally, the use of educational technologies for instructive purposes has been a major precedence for most educational systems including South Africa.

This study investigated pre-service teachers’ experiences on educational technology integration into teaching and learning activities during Teaching Practice. A survey questionnaire was administered to selected 240 pre-service teachers. Quantitative data was analysed using MS Excel and the data was presented using frequency table. The findings revealed that although policies on the integration of educational technologies with teaching and learning were in place, the schools were still not anywhere close to effective implementation. Although most of these enthusiastic pre-service teachers claimed that they were skilled enough to effectively integrate educational technology in teaching and learning activities in order to enhance the intended outcomes, various challenges obstructed them.

These included the lack of relevant of educational technology resources for all learners in these schools, hence, the expected integration of educational technology during their teaching and learning experiences was highly compromised. The researchers recommend that the Department of Basic Education (DBE) speeds up the rolling out of all relevant resources, to enable our pre-service teachers to pioneer the exodus from ancient pedagogy to that of the fourth industrial revolution era (4IR).
