Abstract:
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has created surge demand for essential use of digital technology in educational institutions. The purpose of this study is to investigate pre-service teachers’ digital technology experiences during COVID-19. A survey questionnaire was used in this study with 125 pre-service teachers. The data was analyzed by means of MS Excel and findings were presented in the form of histograms and pie charts. Findings revealed there was still evidence of inadequate access of these tools by pre-service teachers. The pre-service teachers indicated that it was not easy to access bandwidth/Wi-Fi from home; equipment/devices from their institution; university library resources remotely from home; and course materials, such as online educational resources and course texts using digital technologies. Based on the findings, the researchers recommend that the university develop and implement effective digital technology strategies to urgently address the current lack of access to these resources by its pre-service teachers.
