Abstract:
The Web 2.0 Technology provides a platform for creating dynamic, rich and interactive applications which are characterized by ‘social communities’ where major emphasis lies on the users. Such Web 2.0 social communities feature active user contribution and participation to offer effective learning to users of the application by collaborative publishing, content sharing and interactions, thereby creating a Collaborative Environment. Through such collaborative environments, there is a joint effort in learning by the different participants intending to deliver effective learning to each other by collaborative work. The new social web, therefore can be fully utilized to create a collaborative environment to share learning objects which can be managed and shared easily. Certainly, the aim of this research project (Gyaan 2.0) is to create a social community that provides learning object generation and sharing through certain collaborative tools that offer collaborative learning, by the application of Web 2.0 technology. Scientific guidelines and e-learning principles are implemented to the proposed project, to present content in a format that is more effective and adequate for platform independent learning through web pages along with features that ameliorate distance learning through graphics, audio narration and language translation.
