THE ROLE OF GLOBALIZATION IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATION IN SUDAN

Abstract:
Education is a pillar of development, especially in the era of globalization as the knowledge factor has become a crucial element in the development of any society, and education plays a major role in preserving cultural and civilizational identity. In this context, it must be noted that the issue of globalization is more relevant than ever for African countries because of the challenges they have faced in the last two years due to the coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The impact of the epidemic has had a global impact on the global economy as well as on the education system and people's daily lives. In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, the vast majority of countries in the world have embraced distance education to stem the epidemic and prevent its spread. Sudan was one of the countries in East Africa that took this decision by suspending schools and institutions of higher learning. In light of the dynamics of ongoing globalization, the African continent is facing many challenges that need to be addressed with the lessons learned from past experience. These lessons are also relevant to regional conflict management processes and to the maintenance of peace and security on the continent, which provide the basis for sustainable development in socio-economic and human spheres.
This article looks at the role of globalisation in the development of education in Sudan and the problems and challenges facing the country and the African continent as a whole in the wake of the epidemic.
The article examines the role of globalization in the development of education in Sudan as well as the problems and challenges faced by the African continent as a whole against the backdrop of the emergence of epidemic. It is notable to mention that while the civilization world and major technological countries have systematically managed to overcome this crisis, African countries, including Sudan, have been hit hard by the new reality of the world and have not been prepared for this development. The transfer of all educational institutions to distance learning meant that the vast majority of students and schoolchildren could not study because of restrictions and the inability to provide them with distance education.
The degree of globalization in several Sudanese schools and universities in several states of Sudan were studied aiming to develop the human resources at the period of coronavirus pandemic. The obtained results revealed that the challenges are represented in the weak budget of Sudanese schools and universities as well as the weakness of Sudanese cadres due to decrease the support and training outside of Sudan after December's revolution 2018 and economic situation deteriorated. Besides, the weakness of the income average which led to migration of most qualified cadres. Moreover, the study also compares the available factors for applying globalization in public and private education.
The study proposed a project to implement globalization in Sudanese schools, universities, and research centers at an appropriate cost. The suggested project attracts international organizations and investors to support Sudanese educational institutions.Keywords:
