Abstract:
The aim of this study is to investigate needs of novice researchers for new web 2.0 technology that used in academic research field, and help them according to program of training. Using web-based environment for Research activities and tasks became one of challenges and obstacles that face novice researchers in their researches. In order to define and assess web 2.0 needs for them, study investigated needs of novice researchers in various academic fields: applied and social science in Egyptian university. Survey data were collected from some of Egyptian novice researcher and supervisor by an online questionnaire. This questionnaire includes seven main points, which are related to: 1) computer and internet background; 2)e-learning background and skills; 3)academic research skills; 4)motivation towards e-learning in academic research activities; 5)the role of researchers and supervisors online; 6)web-based functions & 7) tools which needed. The findings showed that subjects of web 2.0 held positive views towards web based learning, research’s activities and tasks via internet and web 2.0. Moreover, researchers and supervisors need more training courses for web 2.0 technology to enhance their skills for communication, exchange knowledge and experiences, furthermore to enhance research quality, reliability and authority. Training coerces for using new web 2.0 technologies and applies this in research’s activities is the most important issue to them.
