Abstract:
Research background:
One of the important aspects of human management is shaping the work engagement. Engagement is expressed in the activity of the individual involved in the performance of tasks. It can be noticed that engagement should be considered in the behavioral, cognitive and emotional dimension. Taking into account some theories related to human acting and behavior let suppose that engagement can be shaped through cooperation and competition. Combining cooperation and competition is defined as coopetition. However, research conducted in this field is primarily concerned with relations between companies. Intra-organizational coopetition is mainly considered as competing organizational branches or units (cross-functional coopetition). Less attention is paid to competing groups or individuals.

Purpose of the article:
The article aims at defining the possibility for shaping engagement using coopetition. Authors assume that the competition between teams serves to engage - and that levels of cooperation inside the group in competitive conditions influence engagement members of this group.

Methods:
Work engagement will be determined using the UWES questionnaire. Levels of cooperation will be determined using the author's research tool. Qualitative research will be carried out among students of the University of Zielona Góra, realizing various types of projects.
Keywords:
Cooperation, competition, coopetition, engagement.
