Abstract:
Innovation and its management become an essential part of the vision and strategy of the organization, which wants to maintain and increase its competitiveness, as well as to ensure a certain degree of resilience on the "edge of chaos". In relation to innovation, each organization that perceives it as an essential element for its successful development must define for itself what it means - its definition depends on the subject of activity, the relationship with key stakeholders, their current and future needs and claims.

This requires a change in corporate culture, which will help the organization to provide answers to the trends that are emerging in the environment and to create maximum benefits from the changed conditions. Such a culture is a culture of innovation, in connection with the management of which it is necessary to provide optimal conditions for organization members to upgrade skills, share knowledge, generate ideas and create innovations in order to facilitate collaboration between technological innovation and employees, who manage and handle them. Education is essential for improving these skills.

One of the essential characteristics of education should be the emphasis on creative thinking and design thinking as prerequisites for generating innovation. At the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT) in Bulgaria, they are part of the curricula of the bachelor's programs in Communication and Information, Public Policies and Practices, Innovative Communications and Media Technologies, which are in the professional field 3.5. Public Communications and Information Technologies.

In 2019, ULSIT won a project competition for Basic Research on the topic “Innovation in business and education. Development of a conceptual communication model for innovations in business-information organizational environment " (NSF KP-06-N35 / 5 dated 18.12.2019). The aim of the project is to accumulate new knowledge about the determinants of innovation performance in the context of communications, thereby contributing to existing theories and models. The implementation of the project will provide a high quality phased and methodologically sound platform for the following - firstly, conducting basic research with a focus on models and determinants of innovation; and secondly, for disseminating research results by an interdisciplinary team of established and young researchers in the field of social sciences; and thirdly, to develop the scientific potential of the research team members.
