Abstract:
Since the choice of courses is an important matter for students that directly affects the enrichment of their university studies, there is a great need to support students in their choice of courses. The authors are researching a system that recommends courses according to the learning that students seek in course selection. Specifically, the authors aim to develop a system that recommends courses by integrating a method using past course registration information with grades and a method using analysis of syllabus contents. In this paper, the authors describe the necessity of such a system and its overall concept, and mainly report on the implementation of the former method. In other words, the authors propose a system that recommends courses to current students using information on which courses the students have registered for and what grades they have achieved in the past. In e-commerce sites, it is common for systems to recommend other products according to the products selected by the customer, and customer satisfaction can be improved if the right products are recommended. If a similar service can be realised for the selection of courses, it can be expected to lead to the enrichment of university studies for individual students.
