Abstract:
The article deals with research to determine whether various online teaching methods can influence students success in university studies. Due to the COVID -19 pandemic, it was necessary to move teaching to virtual space. The forms and teaching methods used in full-time education have mostly been transferred to online teaching. However, this approach has been the cause of many problems, which have often resulted in a reduction in the quality and effectiveness of education. Therefore, we have developed and validated an innovative model of online teaching using digital technologies and an emphasis on the development of cross-cutting competencies. This paper describes the course and results of research to verify the didactic effectiveness of an innovative model of online engineering education, designed based on principles for quality online teaching. The aim was to determine whether the proposed teaching model can be used to improve university education results. The teaching model was verified in the teaching of the subject Mathematics I.

The presented research had two primary goals. The first aim was to determine the influence of the proposed online teaching model on students success in the subject Mathematics I. Another objective of the research was to determine whether the application of the proposed online teaching model has a statistically significant effect on the success of both men and women. Research suggests that various students online teaching methods may affect success in mathematics. The obtained results were analysed and will be used to modify the proposed online teaching model of mathematics and computer science.
