Abstract:
With regard to the design, methods and learning objectives of a course the main research question of our contribution can be articulated as what educational potential does the application of game principles in e-learning have? Subsequent lines of thought brought us to be deeply interested in how digital games can enter teaching and study at college, if game principles are even compatible with the logic of teaching in a dominant educational paradigm and what are benefits and cons of the educational principles of games in e-learning seen by designers, teachers and students, which we approached during the mixed methods research. Is there a change of roles taking place between teachers and students engaged in learning mediated by electronic resources? What are the interactions between key actors in the educational process? The summary of the questionnaire survey will help us to clarify the attitudes of the students themselves and to illustrate this relationship, which is conditioned by the feedback loop of an interactive learning environment. Analysis of the interviews served us to explore in detail how do teachers and designers of Masaryk University use technical resources available to them and how do they apply game principles using e-learning tools to change the ways, possibilities and results of teaching online.
