Abstract:
This paper presents the results of an intervention program in order to provide the children with access to the most adequate socio-cultural influences.
The program underlying philosophy was that one should start by providing the teachers with the necessary knowledge about individual differences in terms of temperament, learning styles, etc. This in turn will optimize the educational program; will enable the teachers to understand the pupils’ behavioral problems, to identify pupils with specific needs and /or special aptitudes and use them in the educational process, and to help them to develop their interpersonal capabilities. They have to discover how to adapt the content of their specific teachings, to adapt their interactions with the pupils and their demands and expectations to pupils’ temperamental characteristics.
We have worked with a number of 100 teachers and educational counselors, proving them with psychological information on temperament characteristics and practical training sessions in order to recognize and use them.
We started the experiment with assessment sessions and ended with re-assessing their abilities to understand and use the knowledge in their teaching relationships with their pupils. The results indicate an important swift in teacher’s attitudes and educational insights.
