Abstract:
Universities are designed to educate students at a higher level and to provide the necessary specialists for the national economy. However, they have broader responsibilities towards society. These responsibilities are linked to the dissemination of culture and science among the wider public. This cultural and scientific mission can be implemented in a variety of ways. One of them is the organisation by different universities of socially-accessible events called science festivals. Science festival is a series of presentations on different topics related to the research carried out at each of the participating universities.

In order to promote knowledge in Lublin, Lublin Science Festival has been organised for over a dozen years. During the one-week event, scientific achievements are shown by all the universities of the city of Lublin. The principles of festival organisation and the event’s participants are presented in the article.

The paper also addresses the topics of the lectures and workshops in the field of ICT, implemented in Lublin Science Festival in 2017. These topics are related to modern ICT technologies, such as 3D modelling and printing, motion capture, eyetracking and computer-based decision making business games.
