Abstract:
The teaching of programming skills is one of the basic tasks during the Computer Science study. The teaching of basics and principles of programming is performed most often in the form of text console applications. The growing importance and capabilities of modern Rapid Application Development tools allow using its in teaching of programming and developing applications with Graphical User Interface. Effectiveness of teaching depends firmly on the tools used. Therefore, the teacher has a problem for tool selection for their course. During the selection, many different criteria appear, such as the effectiveness of programming, ease of tools learning, the quality of the interface, etc. The task of selection tools is therefore a problem of multi-criteria selection.

The article presents a method of tools selection to the teaching of programming language. The method can be used during the course design. The presented method consists of defining the selection criteria and their importance, planning and carrying out the experiment with students in order to determine the criteria and selection using the ELECTRE I method. The results of the case study with three different tools for programming in C ++ are detailed presented in the paper.
