Abstract:
As part of the training and dissemination initiatives promoted by the UNESCO Chair "Earthen Architectures, Constructive Cultures and Sustainable Development", in partnership with Universitat Politècnica de València, the monthly academic lectures held by renowned international experts are particularly noteworthy. Over the fifteen years that these conferences have been held, more than one hundred professionals have participated in the lecture series, of which more than eighty have been recorded and are available to view free of charge on the Chair's channel. The topics covered address various earth construction systems in restoration and new construction, as well as associated issues such as sustainability (economic, social and cultural), and the wide variety of social, geographical and cultural contexts in which this type of architecture can be found. This hybrid lecture format has facilitated the creation of an international educational network on earthen architecture, comprising students, teachers, researchers and institutions from twenty-four countries. This activity aims to disseminate information about earthen architecture. Due to its conference format, it offers students educational alternatives, allowing them to delve deeper into aspects that are only superficially covered in formal education. In addition, brings the professional reality closer to the classroom, offering diverse perspectives that enrich the curriculum. Furthermore, the recordings of the lectures and their open publication allow for greater access to knowledge and deeper learning outside the classroom.
