Abstract:
Education systems worldwide are undergoing continuous transformation, and Slovakia is no exception. In the cycle of curricular reforms that are significantly affecting Slovak education, changes have a considerable impact on both pupils and teachers in primary and secondary schools. One of the changes is the emphasis on formative assessment of pupils and the use of innovative methods, strategies, and concepts in teaching. The aim of this paper is to highlight the fact that interest in STEM education among pupils in Slovakia has been declining in recent years. An important element is to point out the possibilities of how to connect digital skills and the STEM concept. The intention is to focus attention on good practice, i.e., how to implement them in school practice in a way that is attractive not only to pupils but also to teachers, especially in the context of the principles of curricular reform.
