Abstract:

The ever-increasing number of users of social networks (SN) and a declining age limit, when they create their first profile, bring the need to focus more on prevention programs in the field of risky behavior on the Internet. The main goal of this paper is to present the results of a pilot study focused on this topic. The pilotage served as a preliminary research for the planned larger study on the chosen topic. Students of the Faculty of Education should be, as future teachers, well acquainted with the issues of SN and other risks that the online world brings. This applies not only to their personal, but especially to their future professional life. Consistent education of students of the Faculty of Education in the mentioned area can help many primary and secondary school pupils in their future profession. In an environment of dynamic development of digital technologies, prevention programs are increasingly needed.

Based on an interview with selected students, a questionnaire was compiled, which was then distributed to students. The pilot study was attended by 114 students of the Faculty of Education, Palacký University in Olomouc from various educational programs.

The results point to the issue of young age in establishing a profile on social networks. It was found that about a third of the interviewed students opened their first account at SN 13 years ago. Furthermore, almost 40% of students stated that their parents did not know about opening an account at the SN. These and other findings show how important the prevention of risky behavior on the Internet is.
