Abstract:
The experience of the lecturers shows that the activity and attention of the listeners, especially during lectures, has significantly diminished in the last (post-covid) period. Distance learning, widely used in the past period, has left a negative mark on the overall activity of the audience. To improve this unfavorable situation and to motivate the students to follow the lecture more closely and thus to increase their activity during the semester, a testing system has been designed. The Testing System (TS) forms a compatible complement to the Educational and Demonstration System (EDS). The testing system allows the instructor to effectively test the attention of the listeners during the lecture and to evaluate and possibly visualize their reactions. The basic part of the TS is a voting device with wireless connectivity and an RFID sensor. The voting device allows the listener to authenticate with an RFID card and select one or more answers to a question from the lecturer. The lecturer must define a maximum of 5 answers, at least one of which is correct. Listeners select the correct answer(s) within a defined time limit by pressing the appropriate button(s). The system allows automatic evaluation of the answers and provides multiple summary and individual outputs. The paper describes the technical design of the Testing System and its software. The Testing System can be extended with a security feature - a fingerprint scanner. Thanks to this it is possible to eliminate any fraud attempts. In addition, such a system has much wider range of applications. It can be used for presence registration, authorization of room entry, and authorization of work on special laboratory equipment.
