Abstract:
The Arabic language is one of the foreign languages in the Malaysian educational curriculum. It has a great challenge of language and needs to pay attention. In the previous literature, mastering Arabic vocabulary still does not reach satisfactory. The result showed poor compared to other foreign languages among students in Malaysia. Most students lack interest in learning Arabic vocabulary because they assume the Arabic language is difficult to learn. Even students have no desire to learn Arabic and perceive that Arabic learning has no meaning in their future. Thus, this study would offer new opportunities to enhance Arabic vocabulary mastery in the present technological world. The study focuses on using digital drama and storytelling as new supplement tools to assist students in interest learning Arabic vocabulary that is more effective and flexible. Digital drama and storytelling are new digital techniques that have been introduced in the education system in Malaysia but are still in dire and not familiar. This conceptual paper aims to review how digital drama and storytelling can develop students' mastery of Arabic vocabulary as an innovative teaching method. The previous research found that the use of digital drama and storytelling in language education can enhance students' achievement and improve their mastery of language. The study ends with summarizes and rationale to utilize that digital drama and storytelling can be implemented in Arabic subjects to increase students' vocabulary, and it is highly recommended to use.
