Abstract:
Pengaruh, an Imason project.
Imason is an Amsterdam based consulting company focusing on human business development in multinational environments, ranging from HR management to executive coaching. Carine Metselaar, who will present the project at Edulearn, is one of the two founders of Imason.
The Pengaruh game:
Currently, Imason is developing Pengaruh in cooperation with an Indonesian based game developer. Pengaruh means influencing in Bahasa Indonesia. The game is developed for young managers and professionals and graduate students with the objective to acquire insight into their influencing skills. While playing the game, participants also get insight into their level of strategic thinking, which they train during the game. This strategic element heavily contributes to the dynamics and attraction of the game and would be the key characteristic of the game if played for fun. However, as an instrument in a training context, Pengaruh focuses on a fixed set of impact variables, such as inclusion, engagement and trust. Participants receive feedback in a form that easily enables further personal and professional development through training and coaching. The game can be played with 16-20 participants in a classical setup or virtually.
The Edulearn presentation:
The presentation will focus on four aspects:
- We believe the added value of Pengaruh in an already mature market lies in its simplicity and easy application combined with the potential to generate rich quality data, enabling participants to better identify their development needs.
- The game combines characters from traditional Asian storytelling with today's requirements of young professionals to develop influencing skills, irrespective of their leadership aspirations. Which we believe is appealing for the target groups.
- The virtual version of the game, to be developed in the second stage, will enable geographically spread organisations to set up engaging developmental interactions between teams whose interactions are normally limited to email or phone based business meetings.
- Also, there will be a mobile version of the game that can be played individually on an Iphone or Android mobile device. Playing this for fun afterwards can support the participant to be reminded of their development objectives going forward.
