Abstract:
Physical Education in schools aims to promote physical activity, socialization and interaction among students. In today's society, it is seen as a very important subject in the development and health of anyone. This subject encompasses several sports modalities, always with the purpose of promoting physical activity and the motor development of those who practice it, one of them being Orienteering.

Orienteering is a sport modality that integrates the physical, cognitive and emotional dimensions. This modality consists, as the name implies, in the guidance in a certain area, using a map and a compass, aiming at choosing the smallest possible route between several points marked on the map.

Thus, the work described throughout the paper presents a case of introduction of new digital technologies, in this modality, to simplify the organization of these events in a school environment and promoting interest in the practice of this sport modality.

Throughout the paper it will be presented the web application that allows the creation and edition of the orienteering event and visualization of detailed information in an after-event context, as well as the registration and management of new organizers or participants. It will also be presented the mobile application that allows the organizers to start and finish the event and edit the participants of a given event, view the current position of the participants and view the results of an already finished event. The mobile application presents a static map to the user and uses georeferencing features to automatically validate participants' pass through points of interest (assigned on the map by the organizers). Its use facilitates the management and analysis of orienteering events through the information that is automatically generated. Besides that, it also benefits from the non-use of paper, since it makes it unnecessary to print maps for the execution of an event, and also the fact that all the organization of an event is done without the need to mark the points in the field.
