Abstract:
Currently, the need for knowledge of foreign languages is explained by the increased role of international relations, which implies regular contacts both at a high level (international conferences, top-level negotiations) and at the level of relations between small companies, small firms, simply individuals. Therefore, it becomes impossible to establish and maintain international contacts in various areas of human activity without the participation of an interpreter. Mastering the profession of a translator in the professional field in parallel with the mastering of the main specialty is offered by Russian universities to their students, as one of the additional education programs for the period of study at the undergraduate degree. It should be noted that this program is very popular among students of Russian universities.

However, the training of translators in the professional field has some problems. One of the main problems is the use by students of the acquired knowledge and skills in practice. Good command of a foreign language of specialty, excellent knowledge of the native language, good knowledge of translation theory and competent solution of individual translation problems do not always guarantee in practice the provision of written translation on time and its competent execution or the implementation of qualified interpretation. That is why the results of the internship by students, which is the final stage of the educational process in the chosen specialty, were often not sufficiently high.

After conducting experimental research work (student and teacher surveys, analysis of work and classes, analysis of the results obtained and analysis of popular methods of preparing students for practice), the authors propose a methodical system for preparing students studying under the additional program “Translator in the field of professional communication” for practical work in the chosen specialty. Such approach provides, even in the process of learning, a close link between the theoretical and practical training of students, which helps to increase the motivation of students and demonstrates high results of graduates of the program.
