Abstract:

Language classrooms in European countries increasingly include learners with diverse educational backgrounds, learning speeds, and learning needs. Teachers are therefore expected to provide more personalised learning experiences while managing limited time and resources. At the same time, inclusive education requires teaching approaches that allow students with different abilities and potential learning barriers to participate effectively in the learning process. The Erasmus+ KA2 Adult Education project PersonaLingua: Crafting Personalized Language Paths for Adult Learners addresses these challenges through the development of an innovative digital platform that supports teachers in creating personalised language learning pathways.

PersonaLingua is a transnational Erasmus+ project developed through collaboration between organisations from three European countries: Molinos de Viento BV (Netherlands), Private Institute C.F. Elite Tutors Ltd (Cyprus), and IFIGENEIA – Center for Greek Studies (Greece). By combining expertise in language education, adult learning, and educational technology, the project aims to provide practical tools that help teachers respond to learner diversity in language classrooms.

The PersonaLingua platform is designed primarily as a support tool for teachers. It allows educators to create learner profiles and generate or adapt language learning materials based on individual learner characteristics, language levels, and learning goals. Teachers can organise their own teaching materials within the platform and adapt them to different learner needs. AI-supported tools assist educators in generating and modifying learning content while maintaining full pedagogical control.

A central objective of the project is to support inclusive learning environments. Many adult language learners face learning barriers that may affect their progress, such as difficulties with reading, processing written information, or maintaining attention. By enabling teachers to adapt learning materials and personalise learning pathways, the platform supports more inclusive teaching practices and helps learners engage with language learning in ways that suit their individual needs.

Accessibility and usability are key design principles of the platform. PersonaLingua is being developed as a freely accessible tool for educators, in line with Erasmus+ objectives of promoting open educational resources and knowledge sharing across Europe. The platform is designed to be intuitive and easy to use so that teachers can integrate it into their teaching practice without requiring advanced technical expertise. The public launch of the platform is planned for August 2026.

The contribution introduces the platform and discuss how AI-supported tools can assist teachers in addressing learner diversity while supporting flexible and personalised language learning pathways.
