Abstract:
Remote experimentation (RE) is a promising alternative, allowing for practical activities without the need for physical presence in laboratories and integrating digital technologies, expanding access to knowledge and enabling investigative experiences even in contexts with precarious infrastructure. The dissemination of RE can stimulate the adoption of more meaningful and active methodologies, contributing to broader and safer learning that develops self-esteem, critical thinking, and civic responsibility.

In this context, some researchers in the field of science and technology have proposed the creation of a national portal encompassing various educational institutions and several possible practices for RE. This work proposes to present the experience report of the University of Brasília, one of the pioneers of the group, which is currently expanding.

The proposed portal aims to function as a collaborative and integrative digital environment, bringing together remote laboratories, didactic resources, experimental protocols, and training materials for educators and students. It is designed to promote interoperability among institutions, optimize the use of existing infrastructure, and avoid duplication of efforts by enabling shared access to high-quality experimental setups. In addition, the platform seeks to support different levels of education—from basic to higher education—adapting resources to diverse pedagogical needs.

Another central objective of the initiative is to foster a network of collaboration among researchers, teachers, and institutions, strengthening partnerships and encouraging the co-creation of new remote experiments. The portal is also expected to incorporate mechanisms for monitoring usage, evaluating learning outcomes, and continuously improving the quality of the resources offered.

By expanding access to experimental practices and integrating innovative digital solutions, the initiative contributes to reducing educational inequalities and promoting the democratization of science education in Brazil. The experience of the University of Brasília highlights both the challenges and the potential of implementing RE at scale, offering insights that can guide the consolidation and sustainability of the national portal.
