Abstract:
The International Particle Physics Outreach Group (IPPOG), a worldwide network of physicists, teachers and communicators, has been active in the field of informal science education and outreach for particle physics for 25 years. IPPOG has developed programmes and activities aiming to improve public understanding and appreciation of the benefits of fundamental physics, to spark interest and enthusiasm among young people for STEM subjects and help dispel the mistrust in science. The IPPOG Resource Database is a collection of high-quality materials in particle physics and related sciences that the IPPOG Collaboration found particularly useful over the years when dealing with different target audiences. The database houses hundreds of items including videos, images, brochures, posters, talks, games, exhibits and ideas for hands-on activities in a variety of languages, some IPPOG made, others developed by collaborating institutes. The database has gone through a major curation process recently in order to ensure the highest standards. Speaking on behalf of IPPOG, I will discuss its purpose, main features and give ample examples of successful entries.
