Abstract:
We are in a world of continuous changes. New structures such as social networks or new technologies modify our perception of learning. This perception, combined with the unemployment rate and the rising life expectancy, draws a new scenario where the need of a new learning frame is not a choice. For this reason, we have developed and applied a learning methodology based on a bottom-up strategy and embedded it into a social model learning called the Suricata Model. Our methodology allows our students to improve their skills and personal empowerment. Thus, this empowerment methodology has been applied over the past three years to achieve measurable and sustainable behaviour change at the individual, organizational and community level during the learning process. In this paper we describe the development and the experience of applying this methodology through a group of elderly people in order to provide them a good chance to improve their social and personal skills.
