Abstract:
This research presents an analysis of the preconceptions generated by the concept of forgiveness in higher education teachers in Colombia who are teacher educators. In the first instance, the concept of forgiveness is approached in two different ways: first, carrying out a conceptualization according to different authors, and second, mapping the studies that relate forgiveness and education. Finally, a content analysis of semi-structured interviews carried out with a sample of 10 teachers is carried out, where the questions are focused on forgiveness, education for forgiveness, and their perceptions towards forgiveness. Therefore, this work aims to establish the preconceptions of the sample regarding the category of forgiveness, and put them in dialogue with the current reality of the country in terms of peace and reconciliation. To fulfill this objective, it was necessary to investigate and analyze forgiveness authors such as Vladimir Jankélévitch, Jacques Derrida, and Paul Ricœur and in the relationship of forgiveness and education to Lin, Gonzales, Fuentes and Zembylas, developing a mixed methodology of a propositional and having as initial result a conceptualization of the definition of forgiveness and a correlation between this and the preconceptions of the teachers in the sample. Therefore, this result goes beyond the data presented, opening the debate on whether the belief in forgiveness has an influence on the learning of it in a country in a peace process.
